Riverside Forest Health Treatment
Project summary
During the spring of 2025, Parks will work with contractors to complete a 340-acre forest health project in Riverside State Park in the area between Seven Mile Road and Carlson Road. This project will promote a healthy and resilient forest by removing wildfire fuels and low vigor trees. Trailhead and trail closures will be in place throughout the project area.

Project updates
Beginning April 21, the thinning project will begin with heavy equipment through the work area. The following areas will be closed for the duration of the project:
- Deep Creek and McLellan trailheads
- Centennial Trail between McLellan and Carlson trailheads
- Portions of single track trails 25, 230, 400, 402 and 403
- Entire Osprey Loop

Benefits
The long-term benefits of thinning vegetation in a dense forest includes reducing wildfire risk and limiting damage to existing trails. It also protects and supports old growth trees and sensitive species and habitats.
