Beaches will be beaches, and shorelines are a-shifting! Join staff on Saturday afternoons in April to explore the sand dunes at West Beach and how they have and will continue to change overtime. This hike is 0.5 miles and follows a flat paved trail. The hike is expected to take 1 hour. This hike is not stroller accessible or ADA.
Join us to improve young stands of Ponderosa Pine and Doug Fir through reducing overcrowded stands. Giving trees proper spacing allows them to grow with health and vigor instead of competing with one another for space, light, and water. We will use handsaws and loppers to remove trees and lay them alongside the trail to prepare for the woodchipper to make a pass through at a later date.
We will meet at 9-Mile Rec Area and walk or shuttle down the Centennial Trail to our thinning site (about 1/4-1/2 mile from the trailhead).
Family in Nature is a fun and highly interactive, nature-based program designed for children ages 2 to 5 years old. Each session lasts approximately 90 minutes and focuses on various aspects of nature found in the park. The programs include story time, creative play, parent-led activities and crafts. Our goal is to create a warm and welcoming space where you and your little ones can enjoy the wonders of Deception Pass together.

Join us along the Little Spokane River for riparian plant maintenance. Dogwood, Cottonwood, Aspen, and Willows were planted with cages placed around them to avoid critters munching on them. Now that the plants are well established and mature, it's time to remove the cages. There is also an invasive grass growing in this area. We can mow down the reed canary grass to avoid it going to seed and spreading.

Join us for a pop-up program about Fort Worden's bluffs! Stop on by our booth to learn about the evolving landscape and history stored in the layers of sand.
Join us at Bowl & Pitcher to give our picnic shelter some TLC. We will replace the picnic table boards on 4 tables and begin sanding down the inside of the shelter to remove graffiti and prepare for a fresh coat of paint.
For the second year in a row, Beacon Rock is hosting a living history event at the Lower Picnic Area’s CCC-era Kitchen Shelter, in partnership with the Roosevelt’s Tree Army Living History Group.
