State Parks Commission to meet virtually

OLYMPIA – The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission will hold its regularly scheduled commission meeting and work session virtually on Nov. 13. 

The Commission meeting agenda has one item, a request to transfer a .68 parcel of land to the Washington Department of Transportation for a weigh station project 

Work session agenda items include: 

  • An update on the Mount Spokane State Park planning process 
  • An update on master planning efforts at Blake Island State Park 
  • A presentation on camping data and campaigns to fill empty campsites 
  • An update on 2023-25 biennium operating and capital budget expenditures and Parks Renewal and Stewardship Account (PRSA) revenue 
  • An update on the status of the Westport Golf project

This is an online meeting, and all Parks staff and commissioners will be attending virtually. However, the Commission will provide a meeting space for the public to watch at the agency’s headquarters in Olympia. 

Written public comment will be accepted for this meeting. No verbal public comment will be taken.

BACKGROUND 

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission holds four regular meetings in pre-determined locations around the state, four virtual meetings and one planning meeting a year. Time for public comment is provided at all regular meetings and may be virtual, written or in person, depending on the meeting. A full agenda, including information about available opportunities for public comment, is available on the Parks website

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is made up of seven citizen volunteers appointed by the governor to staggered six-year terms. The commission is charged with providing policy direction for the agency.
